1968 Triumph Bonneville T120R

In the opinion of most Bonneville experts by 1968 Triumph had nailed the design of their flagship model.  After over a decade of modifications these bikes were the first of the last of the line, before the introduction of the oil-in-frame T140.  As a result these bikes are prized by owners and restorers alike.  We particularly like the twin-leading shoe brake on these bikes that was introduced in 1968, and offers, we believe one of the best front brakes of the era.
The colours for the 1968 models were Hi-Fi Scarlet, with a silver stripe outlined in gold.  These look very fetching on the smaller, peanut shaped US tank.
This particular matching numbers bike was imported by us from the United States where it had received a total restoration in recent years with only 20 miles showing on the speedometer when we received it.
The bike has been well-stored, and only a relatively minor recommissioning has been necessary.  The following work has been carried out:

  • New battery
  • Carbs cleaned
  • New plugs
  • Change all oils
  • Adjust spokes as necessary
  • New fuel taps and hoses
  • New handlebar bushes
  • Re-torque cylinder head and adjust valve clearances
  • Check and adjust ignition timing as necessary
The bike now looks stunning, and rides exactly as a rebuilt bike should do.  This is a wonderful chance to own a piece of British motorcycling history!  The bike comes with an MOT, an age-related UK registration and is ready to ride away.
