1983 Moto Morini 3 ½ Sport
We are very pleased to have recently bought a Moto Morini 3 ½.
The 3 ½ was originally launched in 1974, when its V-twin 350cc engine was considered a ground breaking design for a motorbike. The basis of the new design was an entirely new 72 degree V-twin with Heron combustion cylinder heads. It was the first time that such an engine had been used in a series production motorcycle. The bike was introduced in two guises, the Strada and the Sport, with the Sport having minor cosmetic differences and around 4 extra bhp. Both models were enthusiastically received by the public, and developed a reputation for both reliability and excellent handling.
Our bike is a 1983 Sport version, which benefits from the electric start that was introduced in the late 1970s. The bike is in superb original condition, having been maintained in a large Swedish collection until very recently. Having bought the bike from the collector, we have recommissioned it for road use and registered it in the UK on an age-related number plate. The work carried out includes:
-
Cleaning petrol tank and renewing fuel hoses
-
Clean carbs and check air filters
-
New battery
-
Change engine oil and spark plugs
-
Fit new rear tyre
-
Change brake fluid
-
Fit new cam belt
-
Rewire as necessary
-
We have a receipt for this work.
The bike itself starts easily either with the electric start or the kickstart, and runs and rides as it should. It has a fresh MOT. This is a highly original bike in excellent condition. A great opportunity for an enthusiast of these splendid lightweight bikes.
